Fox Progress

I think I have finally cracked my color code on my fox. Oh, I have maybe painted him six times, both interior colors and outlines. There is something to be said for just doing this (or the prelim) in Illustrator or on the computer.  But something that can't be done is the painterly technique that I decided to brave and try on the fur. I start with the undercoat of the dulled orange and put the firey yellow on top, letting the orange peek through in areas.  I've finished the face so far - and more to come.  Here are some photos of the fox in progress with some different colors. You can also see how the face has slightly changed over time.
